About the Witt Research Center
The Currie B. and Lavinia Sparkman Witt Research Center is located on the second floor of The Tampa Bay History Center, a non-profit educational institution that seeks to preserve and teach the remarkable history of the Tampa Bay area.
The Witt Research Center is named in honor of the parents of Lavinia Lee Witt Touchton, whose husband is the History Center's founding board chairman, J. Thomas Touchton.
Comprised of a reading room and stacks, the Witt Research Center is a non-lending library with collections of Florida history books, maps, periodicals, microfilm, photographs, subject files, and family histories. Manuscript collections include correspondence, diaries, journals, and the organizational papers of business, fraternal, professional, religious and social organizations.
As a result of the partnership between the Tampa Bay History Center and the Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library, access to databases is provided. Four computers, a copier and a scanner are available to help visitors meet their research needs.
